Hi Everyone..

It saddens me to make this announcement but I feel the time has come to completely remove all of the Sandbox Servers for Garry's Mod. The traffic has decreased far below our marks from last year and the staff is becoming rare. We have set up a specific team of people to help manage the servers, and the communication with them has fallen to absolutely nothing.

We have been running since 2013 and have been mainly funded by myself, which I don't really mind. When it comes down to having the time to maintain/repair/staff and other things on the server I simply just do not have the time. TBB has consumed most of my social life, and now that summer is here I am planning on getting out and having fun with friends and taking trips.

I will be keeping TeamSpeak up because there is a large amount of people that collaborate there and play games other than Garry's Mod. The website may be reset or changed to something more simplistic to accommodate our downsize.

Garry's Mod has slowly been decreasing in popularity, especially now that GTA 5 is released for the PC. I myself have been spending most of my free time playing with groups of people on our TeamSpeak and having fun. I forgot how good it feels to actually kick back and play games without having to constantly deal with issues and concerns across 5+ game servers.

To the staff on the remaining servers, I will advise the cancellation date to which they will be suspended or taken down completely. Take this time to finish any unfinished business or notifying people of the closure. I'm fairly certain that none of my staff really check the website, so it'll come as a shock when the server is offline without knowing of this.

#1 - Everyone else appears to be playing on other build servers, leaving this one empty.. our most expensive server.
#2 - Our most popular server, NONE of the staff participates on TeamSpeak nor uses the website to address concerns.
#3 - The headache. This server has been kid friendly for 2 years, and the level of drama and problems has risen to an uncontrollable amount.
#4 - Two active staff members whom I don't communicate with, nor hear about server status or issues.
#5 - Tried alternatives, server ended up a ghost town with no staff participation.

Deathrun, Prophunt, Muder - Fairly popular, but considering that none of my staff really play Garry's Mod anymore.. these servers will most likely be retired as well.


You can feel free to keep the |TBB| tag in your name if you wish, perhaps in the future we can come back and try this all again. It has been a pleasure serving everyone and giving you a great place to play, but I do believe this is the best option considering how much stress has been caused and how much of my personal time has been invested into the community.

Thanks Everyone for being awesome and devoting your time to keeping our community running, but as a break to everyone I do believe this is the best option for us. We will still be a community on TeamSpeak hanging out and having fun, just no longer providing game servers for Garry's Mod. I may take down the group entirely (Steam Group) to officially release us from all ties. It's up to you whether to keep the |TBB| in your name or not, maybe most of you will actually stop playing Garry's Mod and focusing on games that are actually worth the time.

In closing, I may be wiping my Steam Friends list as well.. starting fresh. I have not determined if or when I will do this, and I will keep my close friends that I actually talk to and remove those whom I haven't spoken to or know.

You are the most accomplished owner I've ever seen. You sacrificed your own personal time to help others. Now i think it's time we owed ya the same. Enjoy the fruits of life, you deserve it.

This is perhaps not the end of the road though, but a new beginning. To build an even stronger box.
 
When I got the news today, man it hit me hard. A lot of good memories I made on this server. It was an emotional thing for me, but I know I've made a lot of good friends out of it. It has been a great privilege to help develop for these servers and do as much as I could for so long. I am glad we still have a teamspeak server to hangout of because I want to stay in contact as long as possible. I hope you guys all stay well. TBB will stay in my name.

Been here for over 2 years. Its been one hell of a ride, And experience on these servers. Hope everyone the best of luck... I feel like I should say more, So here we go.

I wish there was one more chance for us to make a difference and man up to what we were told to do. I've seen that barely anyone has... Our last meeting everyone was assigned a specific job and what to do, and about a week later nobody did anything anymore - even me. But recently I've began to realize how empty our servers were and i think its because we've had the same thing for over 2 years now. In my opinion, server 3 was doing excellent, I played on there alot recently and saw it being filled up everyday and players having fun. Server 2 as well was doing really well (good work Epson!) and then the rest of the servers were a little, unpopulated. I don't like this whole shutting down situations', but I guess that's what happens when none of the staff care for about a week, then go off and do their thing. I wanted to make change, try to get players active and enjoy the servers again. I saw that server 3 didn't have alot of the RP aspects back after its reset and I added a couple addons back on there to make it seem RP again. I made a post on the site to tell note to everyone like "hey, our servers are kinda being abandoned, any admins gonna step up? Anyone gonna put in suggestions?" But i think that didn't seem to work, and it didn't surprise me. I've been here for a while and I really hated to see our top staff, including me slack off like this. I know I'm talking Smack ' but I'm going to admit myself that I didn't do any work or live up to my rank. I guess the developer rank really wasn't for me? I'm more of the handling and administrating not coding and stuff. I guess that's why I didn't do anything, I didn't know what to do. I guess I was just top worried to ask the questions like, am I going to have access to workshop so I can work on addons, code things, get access to more things? Or what. When I tried working on some stuff like a developer does I couldn't. Such as me adding addons to the server. I can't add custom things because using ftp wont fastdl the addons. So I can't add addons to the servers, on the site I couldn't make an announcement so I finally decided to rank myself up in order to do so. And I couldn't update svns, due to limited access to the control panels. Lots of these problems were the cause of me not doing anything, I sort of felt the developer rank as meaningless. And 'not to be rude' the ones who were uncapable of handling the job were ranked up to the highest authority, which i think also led to our downfall. I'm cutting this message short. My phone is about to die, but I have a lot more thoughts and things to get off my mind. I'm not saying all of this to disrespect everyone... I'm just... Purging my opinions. *sent from phone*

*UPDATE* To continue... It really makes me disappointed to see everyone agreeing with the shut down, Unless there's absolutely no hope of getting the servers back up and better then i can understand it. But if it's not like that situation i don't see why were trying to figure things out (Getting donations, attracting more players, etc.) instead of just accepting our downfall. Basically it's like you worked hard as ever for 2 years then someone tells you you're not needed anymore and you just respond with "Okay". That's what this seems like to me, And that's what makes me disappointed about it. We had many chances to make our community better and keep it sustainable, But we all just slacked off... So many things were out of sort, not updated, not fixed, etc. And now i guess we don't have 'another' chance to get that back. When i first started here everything was running perfectly fine, Nothing wrong with anything. And since these past 2 years things have turned into 'drama', The drama was a big problem to all of this and i believe it was due to no staff being on the servers to stop drama from spreading. We've gone through multiple communities telling lies about us and taking away our members, And we ALL worked TOGETHER and fixed everything. We put all the pieces together and figured out the way to right, And stopped that type of drama. If we were to stick together on things like that on every situation, And make other staff members opinions count and do what they say and listen to what we say. I think we wouldn't be having this whole conversation right now. But instead we have tons of drama on the servers and players arguing and fighting all the time... We made server 3 not kid friendly anymore, Which really didn't change nothing at all. We changed server 5 back to the original way server 3 was, Just drive only which was really nice. There was no screaming, no yelling, no fighting, Just simple peace and fun. Yet on server 3 there was chaos, And chaos that couldn't be handled. (I have no clue why) - Chaos got so strong that now everyone has had enough, No staff will go on there anymore because of it, And i'm sure nobody wants to play on a server like that. And this is where it comes down to the staff, If there was drama or people arguing we should've instantly kicked them. 0 drama policy, Instead when there was an admin or moderator on and people were fighting or arguing i'd get a steam message saying it's happening and the admins aren't doing anything about it but in the mean time i'm busy with something else or, I say just tell the admin to kick them or something else related to that. The person reporting i assume doesn't do that because the issue never gets resolved and when it doesn't it spreads around to other admins when the players see the guys arguing again and tell staff and the staff are like "when did that happen, i knew nothing about that." And have no idea what's going on in the server. The person reporting i believe doesn't need to actually tell the admin to stop the arguing, The admin should already know how to stop it. And handle it so it doesn't get out of hand... But it always does, Everytime. Wether it's the admin sitting there talking back at them, Or using their admin commands on them like slaying them, exploding them, jailing them, freezing them, gagging them, etc. That's what causes instability and more drama. We 'had' many admins capable of doing their job and getting rid of the issues, But then nobody decided to play on gmod anymore. I know it gets frustrating or annoying when you're an admin and you have to handling lots of issues. But YOU'RE THE ONE THAT SIGNED UP FOR IT. If you weren't up for the task then why would you have made an application. Just for the power? Or the title on the scoreboard in game? Most of our admins or moderators get accepted then they go onto the server show off their new rank, Then play around maybe kick a few people.. Probably a couple weeks later they aren't playing anymore, Aren't coming to higher authority when they get a report about somebody or something so things get resolved. Or anything. Or they just play on the server and handle things themselves the way they want it, And tell nobody about what they do (That's what happens when they are never on our TeamSpeak) and nobody knows anything about it. Then we have the staff members that just don't care at all but themselves or others that get in their way... Which has really gotten on my nerves and nothing is done about them. I know i'm not perfect, I haven't been doing alot because i'm only one person with alot of other people doing the same thing i'm doing, But since i'm the one that sticks out and does the most stuff - when i don't do anything i get called out on it.


So after laying back and being lazy, I decided to F*** myself up one day and make myself realize how nobody is doing anything and how deserted our servers were getting, And try to do something about it. I started to play on server 3 again, keeping the drama down, Keeping players in the server and adding addons people wanted. Having fun playing around, trying out 'new' things. So that's when i decided to make the announcement to try and get people to know the servers telling them we need some more players playing on our servers and stuff like that. But after a few days that doesn't seem like it worked. I didn't get any help after that announcement either, Nobody came to me and asked "Hey need any help getting the servers populated again?" Nothing. And now this annoncement comes and to it's like a big slap in the face. I try to improve now, Doing some decent progress, Then comes the news of a deadline. As if my work were just set on fire and burned down. That's what kind of set me off to get everything out of me that has been building up inside of me... There has been fun and good moments being in this community and all, But there's also selfishness and uncaring people. So i guess i just had the last straw, And i had to speak out... I do hope the servers do not go down forever, Or everybody doesn't just say their farewells like they are right now... And still stays in touch. I do hope though, Maybe we start completely fresh. New everything, New staff, New addons, New servers, New everything. A COMPLETE swipe. At least if we do start again, We will now know how to handle things and keep things stable. (hopefully) So i since i've said everything i wanted, I don't know if it's going to get me banned or shunned, or yelled at. But i feel a lot better letting all of this out, Probably one of my greatest post yet and maybe my final post. If you've read the whole thing, Thank you, And bye.

I am glad I have made so many great friends here and that I will still be able to have these friends in the coming times. I'm glad that we still will be able to have teamspeak to talk to each other! No, Please, I've only been with TBB for a little while and I've grown to love TBB #3, When I saw this I was like no, Please no, I will miss playing on TBB #3, the only server I played on gmod.
 
this really makes me sad i have been here since the beginning worked my way though the ranks made good friends and now i come here to you guys everyday my friends i was having a hard time at school for my last years with my girlfriend {Amanda}we got in a fight and she needed some time i was only getting up in the mourning to see her and my life was really falling apart i was going through depression and at almost of the end of the year i got in a pretty nasty fight and his parents pressed charges on me i got to continue my school work because i had great grades and that same kid had been aggravating me for years and it was proven in court he started it all and would still be able to attend graduation i would get done with home school work pretty fast so i had nothing to do i used to play gmod back in the day and thought i would give it another try since i had not played in awile this is how i found you guys my friends my true friends all of you where better friends then i had in real life you guys are a family to me you always will be and eddie go have fun go on trips see the world i am sorry for sit hitting the fan awile ago and leaving 2 to rot i know its not my fault but i always feel bad about it seeing these servers go down makes me very sad this is not a sob story i am just telling you guys how i got here and how i feel there is so much more i want to say but its hard so many mixed fellings thanks for reading
 
My TS hasn't been working over the past few weeks, and we've come to the point in TBB #2 where everything is running smoothly without any concerns, at all. I apologise for being inactive on TS because it hasn't been working, but it's a real shame that the servers are closing. Anything I can do for TBB #2, though. We get full every day now and loads of people come on. I'm managing fine and my staff are doing really well. Please understand that TBB #2 is running great, and I'm doing my best to run it. This isn't an annoying begging paragraph, but please reconsider #2... I've just hit 900 hrs how.

Upon reading about your steam friends list, you're the person I look up to and would love to still share the great memories through steam!

Update: I have taken ownership of TBB #2, although it will reappear with a different name.
 
I cannot believe this is happening. If possible, I can host a sandbox rp server.... though problem is I don't have money for VCmod.
I want to keep heritage going.
I am a proud helper. I will not be staff on any popular servers again, but I guess it's fine.
I wish we stayed.
I could host the Minecraft server. I used to own one, but the ip got changed, and it was doomed for good.
But I saved the world.
My statue. My precious spawn.
And plz do not remove us... we've all been friends... and we... don't wanna forget you.
 
I will miss the sandboxes and even though the servers I play on TBB are going I myself will never leave I guess ill get ready for prophunt.
 
Yup, it's been pretty amazing on here. I remember the first times I came on the server. I learned to build everything on here and it's a shame that it's gone, but change happens. I met my best online friends on here too. Just please, for the love of god, keep the TS server up along with the website. Thanks for the fun along the years everybody. I really encourage you guys to just go out and have fun. Explore a little.

P.S.:
We should definitely still play games together. Does anybody play Just Cause 2: MP or even TF2? Sounds like fun.

I got moderator not to long ago, and to see tbb 4 going soon is hard. I've been on ts3 and ive tryed my best- and it seems we are getting lots of traffic, the past 2 days we've had the server full. Hope this changes some minds. But I completely understand <3 to all and I hope the best.

I do not ever want to see this community fall apart again, but if this is the best course of action for you- then I will go along with it. I have not been around that much due to personal reasons and being addicted to Smite for a little bit. I tried my very best to make sure prop hunt would do well and get traffic- I left for a small period hoping the staff I assigned to keep up with it while I was away but sadly I guess without me the server doesn't do as well as we need it to. I am getting my personal life in order finally and things are calming down so my attendance will be back to what it used to be- so I will be on the ts like before.

This is the best community I've ever come across and it means so much to me. Xeron- you've made a huge difference in my life and I will always be in your debt. You're one of a kind and I am eternally grateful for the family you've given me.

No matter what happens to the servers- I won't be going anywhere and will continue to play with everyone. TBB isn't just Garry's Mod- we are a gaming community and a family and no matter what game we play- I will be happy.
 
Good lord... I wish that it hadn't come down to having the servers all shut down. Everything I've done on Garry's Mod for the past few years was TBB. Now, to see the servers go... I really wish there was some way for me to help out, but I can't - I dont have any money and school gets in the way. I really don't like having the servers all shut down, but if that's what happens then that's what happens. We still have the community and the TeamSpeak. Hopefully some day we'll bring the servers back up, and start off strong with new and refreshed staff members so that we keep strong don't have to close it all down again.

Dear friends, me, and TBB people,
I am very sad that TBB will come to a close. I certainly wish there were more servers like these. The highest rank I have reached was regular, but I lost the rank because of the client restart. I don't think it is worth coming back to TBB. On the bright side though, VCmod might be released this year and more servers will have VCmod installed. I only played on TBB servers for about 6 months now and this had to happen to me? At least I have other games to play for example like Euro Truck simulator 2, Farming simulator 15, and Team Fortress 2. I will say my farewells to the TBB community. Here are my TBB statistics:

[size=12pt]Thanks for the kind words everyone, yes we're shutting down most of our Garry's Mod servers but our community will still be together. We have all met some amazing friends and some of us consider each other to be family, we will not be losing that. Those of you who were here merely for the power and the rankings will most likely leave without looking back. We have been accommodating the public for quite some time, and have had issues finding loyal people to step up and handle specific roles. We lost a few of our foundation blocks this year, which ultimately played a part in the rest of our tower slowly falling tier by tier.

Many people see the servers from the outside, not really taking into consideration the amount of work that each server requires. The load of this should not be placed solely on one person and should be equaled out among the hand picked people that applied and have committed their time to do so.

I founded this community in late 2012 by running a game server from within Garry's Mod. I decided to start a build server, and people joined and I only put on the addons they requested being new to the game. Eventually the traffic got to be so much that my home internet could not provide the stable bandwidth needed for all of the constraints. I decided to rent a dedicated server, and we just grew so rapidly hence the name "Teh Build Box' which was actually chosen by my first administrator 'Sypress'. I then decided to put WAC Aircraft on the server because it seemed appealing to be able to fly aircraft and build at the same time.

Eventually the lag of the constraints and the lag of spawning the entities (vehicles) became too much for one server and I decided to branch off into another server which TBB #2 Fly & Drive was born. This separated the two groups of people who had different intentions within the game as far as who wants to build and who wants to fly aircraft. We then had people that would strictly RP on the Fly & Drive which caused lag for those who wanted to fly so we decided to bring on Server #3 - Sandbox Drive RP.

The two new servers were packed absolutely full every single day, so we made the choice of doubling them up creating more space in hopes to even the load. Shortly afterwards server #3 had gotten the attention of a lot of kids, and I made an agreement to allow them to play as long as they behave and follow our rules. Treating the kids like human beings and allowing them to be creative and hang out without fear of getting banned or harassed worked well for quite a while, so I decided to make them [Kid Friendly] and do my part in protecting them and creating a safe environment.

Well... with time the servers got out of control, staff did not participate and do their roles in keeping the servers running smoothly and soon our community got the image of a "Kid's Community" which was never my intention. We were simply over-run and could not handle all of the issues that were rising, not to mention trying to keep things safe in a public gaming environment. This happened for almost a year until I've reached my breaking point and decided that I would like to be a "gamer" again instead of always having to deal with server issues & maintenance.

I know my staff will not admit it, but they may appreciate the break as well. Allowing them to play games without having the responsibility of having to deal with a bunch of issues every day when they sign in.

We are not gone forever, we will be |TBB| until we decide what to do in the future. I'm hoping by early or mid 2016 we will be able to move forward and convert |TBB| into a new group with a new name leaving our past behind. Again, this is not the fault of anyone.. this is simply what I need to do in my personal life right now to get things back on track. Most of you don't know that I was recently hit on my motorcycle a few weeks ago, and medical bills and money to repair my motorcycle are stacking up considering the other party didn't have insurance.

There are a lot of factors that led up to this, but please don't take this as "your fault" or "I should have done more" because even with everything running smoothly I'm spending all of my free time at the computer working on something I'm paying out the ass for. This is a big number so brace yourselves.. since 2012 I have spent nearly $4,500 on hosting the community and purchased scripts. I am fine with that, but I really need more participation and need to find coders and developers that can handle situations that arise when I'm not here.

I'm planning on taking a few vacations this year, and focusing on my love life with a new relationship I'm in which is what I really need to do right now. We are not gone forever, and we will always keep the friendships made here. I will post some updates below.

* Server #2 will remain online, EpicEpson has decided to take full ownership of the server with the support of me as a server technician. I will resume to pay for this server, but ultimately Epic and his staff need to figure out issues within the server on their own. I will handle the addons and maintenance upon our agreement.

* The website will remain online, but may be cleared or have limited access to certain areas. It will remain up for people to keep in contact with each other through Live Chat and Private Messages. Remember, we're still a community but no longer supporting hosting dedicated servers at this time.

* The TeamSpeak will remain online and remain public at the address: ts3.tehbuildbox.com

* Murder, Deathrun & Prophunt are yet to be determined, I know for a fact I will cover another months worth of the bills as we collaborate and make a final ruling on the future. Having actual servers with gamemodes other than Sandbox are much easier to manage plus they bring opportunities for income to help cover server expenses. This is much more manageable for staff, and certainly easier on me.


Thanks again everyone for your dedication, some of you are the reason why I'm still here today. Without making new friends and finding new hope, I most likely would have ended up somewhere on a path of no return. I also respect the posts made by everyone and believe me.. you are free to say what you want and I will never ban someone for expressing their opinions as long as it does not threaten me or my community. I still have a job to do as a community owner and that is serve and protect those who wish to participate and be a part of us.

I still have an extreme amount of thinking to do, and will continue to update this thread as necessary.
 
Its sad to see the downsize happening to the community. I feel at home with this community, with everyone, being able to talk about anything. We have become a family. I was happy when we came back from the last time and i would hate to see it disappear again.

As for the other servers i agree with Mr Ritzu, the prophunt and the deathrun servers have been more populated then the murder server for the last couple of weeks. i have been on mostly deathrun and i have been seeing a lot of regulars and a lot of new people everytime i get on. As for the murder server barely anyone is on anymore.

In short yes to Deathrun and Prophunt as for the murder and minecraft, id say keep them up for a while longer and see if they attract more players, if not then it is what it is.

I have been on the server for a year now and just 1 or 2 months ago I had time to make a account on this website. I left the server for a month and than I came back, I came back just 2 or 3 months ago. And I was on almost everyday, and there was not a ton of things happening and I asked my friend. I realized the server was not doing great, that was when tbb servers had no more kid friendly, that broke my hart and now this, this just puts me down.

I was on when there was the CHP clan on, I was on around Christmas and I was having so much fun. Just a week ago I was having the time of my life and this week I wanted to be all Gmod on the tbb servers, no Minecraft, no Gta, no nothing just the tbb servers. I would like to thank Xeron for making my time on the tbb server a grate time! Thank You, as this server I will never forget.

(I will keep the TBB tag in my name, although it might not matter because I think I am leaving gmod.)
